Interesting
This is the right place for you where you can find
really interesting things.
If you want to enjoy the internet properly then
you must protect your pc properly.
The six main programs for this
job are:
- A proper web browser [ Firefox / Opera
]
(Try to avoid the Internet Explorer!)
- A proper e-mail program [ ThunderBird
]
- Anti-Virus Software [ AntiVir
]
- Firewall [ Sygate
]
- Anti - Spy ware Software [ Ad-Aware
and / or Spybot
]
- Detect browser hijackers with [ Hijack this ]
The programs above are free for personal use. They are easy to
use and (very important) easy to update.
Tips
to keep you PC / Laptop secure:
-
Install
and use the six main programs!
- Never open e-mail attachments from unknown sources.
- Ignore SPAM mails
and delete them - never (I repeat NEVER!) reply !
- Only use your credit card details on trusted sites and make
sure that "https://www..." is in the address bar !
- Check your pc for Spy ware before
using your credit card online.
- Do not download files with the ending ".bat", ".com",
".exe" or ".pif" ! (e.g. "coolpictures.pif", etc.)
- Do not forward chain letters!
- Update your Anti-Virus / Anti-Spy ware programs at least
once a week!
The V8 engine sound is improving but still far away from the sound of
the old V10 engines. If you miss the good

HP
41 - The poor man's black box
I
am a fan of programmable calculators.
It started years ago with a little Casio FX
501P. My Pal Martin bought the next version FX
502P, then I bought the FX
602P, he bought the next higher Casio and I ended up with a HP
41C. Very nice little machine. It is also called "The poor
man's black box" because it was so expensive when it first came out.

This is a little lullaby song
that Christine sang to her children when they were little and
previously her 'Granny Lochinver' sang it to her as a child.

This is the "Ping" sound from the sonar of a submarine. I use it on my
mobile phone to inform me about new txt messages (sms). It works really
well and it is unique. You can also download ' 2 pings ' or even ' 3 pings '. Enjoy..
Games
I like to play Games with my PC
/ Laptop.
Currently I am playing F1
- Challenge '99 - '02 (BTW the perfect Add-On for
this game is RH2005
!) and FarCry
but that changes quite regularly. Gothic
2 is also a great game that I have finished recently.
I love these old graphical point-and-click
adventure games like "Monkey
Island", "Indiana
Jones", "Day
of the Tentacle", etc. To play these games you have to use an
Emulator. The best Emulator for these kind of games is [ ScummVM
].
