Absent:
This is the main windows that you will be in contact with. Here you see 3 Tabs named - 'Today', 'This week' and 'Next week'. If somebody is on holiday or is not available for a few days within the next two weeks you will see here an entry of this person .

To get more details about this person absent simply click on this entry and then on the - icon. You will then get a window called 'absent details'.

Absent details :
This is the window with all the important information you need.

Department filter :
Imagine you work in a big company with lots of employees and lots of departments. To avoid a long list with people you do not work with, you can setup this filter. This provides specific absent data of people from the departments who are important to you.
 

Absent editor :
This is the 'absent editor'. With this program you can handle and manage all the absent dates of your colleagues. You have to enter all the relevant information like Surname, Name, Department, Tel. no. and the name of the substitute including his/her Tel. no. before you transfer these data with the icon to the absent list. Additional to that you can enter a small note to that entry.
 

Ideal environment:
The ideal environment for these programs is a local area network (LAN). These programs will also run when they are stored on a single pc. In this case you have to store the programs in different directories. This picture shows you on which pc or server what files should be stored :

Note: Any directory / networkdrive can have different names.
The names in this picture are only an example !

On the PC of the personnel department you should run the program 'Absent-Editor'. This makes sure that only authorized people can change the data in the absent database file.

In a public directory of your server where every user has access, you should store the files 'absent.exe' and 'absent.dat'.

Every user pc who should have access to the absent database needing only a 'link icon' to the absent public directory on the server on his desktop. Every change a user makes with 'his' absent - link i.e. 'Department filter', 'Font' or 'Size' or 'Position' of the absent window will be stored on his local pc on drive c: . This means that every user has its own personal program on his screen.

Encrypted data:
All the data from the absent data file are stored encryped on the harddrive of your pc or server. This means that nobody else can change the data exept the person who has access to the absent-editor.
